Books I loved
Like most authors, I also love to read. Here are some books I've enjoyed recently that might be worth your time. I've arranged them by category, and will be updating them occasionally. Click on the book title for my comments on each. Enjoy!
Contemporary Romance
The most unusual contemporary romance I've ever read. It's about a man who dresses up as a woman as a cabaret singer, and it's brilliant. So good. SEXY. I resisted reading it for a long time. So glad that I finally read it.
Twisty, very dark mafia type romance that I loved. Book one of two.
Fun book based on a trope I love.
Book one of the Beyond Blood series. Dark and weird, but I loved it.
Book two of the Beyond Blood trilogy - darker and darker . . .
Conclusion to the Beyond Blood trilogy.
My first Kristen Ashley book, and still my favorite by far. Love this woman's writing!
Another incredible book by Kristen Ashley. This was another of my early reads from her and I think it set a whole new standard. Loved it.
Contemporary romance is one of my favorite subgenres. While I read almost anything, the one type of romance I don't read is MC. I made a decision a while back to avoid them for a variety of reasons, not leave of which is when you study motorcycle clubs for a living, reading fictional accounts becomes less appealing . . .
Romantic Fantasy and Futuristics
This is book one of a series retelling the story of Beauty and the Beast. Compelling and well done.
This is a wonderful fantasy romance that's a slow, gentle burn that becomes more and more compelling. I cannot wait for the sequel.
This is flat out one of the finest romances I've ever read. It's science fiction, it's romance, it's bizarre and somehow it manages to explore philosophy, what it means to be human and theology. Oh, and it's sexy too. And yes, there is a lizard, and yes, it works. I have no idea how.
This is a fun romp of a romantic fantasy. It's sort of YA, in that the characters are young, but the writing felt mature and developed to me. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Solid fantasy romance that's sort of a Cinderella story in a way.
Excellent fantasy romance. Not what I was expecting but I couldn't stop reading it.
One of the best post-apocalyptic romances out there. This is zombies, and yes, she does make it sexy!
Shay Savage is an incredible author, and I think this may be one of the most unusual romances I've ever read. It's a romance told entirely from the point of view of a pre-verbal cave man. It's really good. I have no idea how she pulled it off, but beautiful and elegant in every way.
The first of a series I read like crack. Loved it.
This is probably in the wrong space - I think it's technically science fiction, but it's really more of a fantasy. One of two.
This is a fabulous fantasy romance that I sincerely hope is the start of a long series. Lots of potential in this world.
